Diagnosis

Carapace elongate, fusiform; dorsal surface naked; regions not defined; one or two anterolateral spines; fronto-orbital border narrow, tridentate; single pair of orbital fissures. Thoracic sternum deflexed at level of sternite 7, sternite 8 perpendicular to preceding sternite; sternite 4 wide; sternite 5 with pair of long projections; sternite 6 positioned only laterally. Chelipeds with relatively elongate and flattened propodus; fixed finger long. Last pair of legs reduced. Spermathecal apertures close together, longitudinal in outline. Abdomen with locking mechanism consisting of hooks on projections of sternite 5 fitting into sockets on pleomere 6. (After Guinot 1993).
