Introduction

Body form slender, cylindrical and/or vermiform. Leptopontiids live interstitially, generally in marine sediments, although a few species occur in brackish and freshwater (Boxshall and Halsey 2004). There are 10 genera in the family Leptopontiidae, two of which are recorded for Australia, each with one species.
