Introduction

The genus Katipo contains three species which are common and widespread in eastern Australia. One of these extends through the Northern Territory to Papua New Guinea and another is also found in SW Western Australia. The third, K. rubrivenosa, is probably the best known in the genus and is found throughout the Murray Darling basin and neighbouring areas of southeastern mainland Australia. All species appear to be associated with species of Eucalyptus (Myrtaceae).
