Introduction

Muir (1918) divided the genus Kamendaka into three subgenera based on the structure of the head, particularly the angle at which the vertex met the frons in profile. Those with this angle being about 90º were placed in the subgenus Eosaccharissa Kirkaldy (which has one Australian species) while those at the other extreme, with the face and vertex meeting at about 45º, were placed in the subgenus Nicertoides Matsumura (which is not represented in Australia). The intermediate forms were placed in the nominal subgenus Kamendaka Distant, with one species from Cairns in the wet tropics of North Queensland. The subgenus Kamendaka is otherwise distributed in the Philppines, Korea, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
