Introduction

Since K. gemma was described from Sydney, New South Wales, it is assumed that the species is extremely rare, or it lives in a cryptic situation such as deep in moss, or it has been confused with some other species in collections. Kirkaldy's original description states that the species is black with the cells of the tegmen hyaline. The surface is closely punctate.
