Introduction

Eight species of Ipoides are known distributed over most of Australia (except Tasmania) and into Papua New Guinea with one species in New Caledonia. Species of Ipoides are mainly plain, nondescript ipoines with a single strong hind tibial spur and numerous strong tibial spines. Ipoides hackeri Evans and I. honiala Evans are widespread and common species on a variety of plants. I. melaleucae is relatively common on Melaleuca spp (Myrtaceae) in northern parts of Australia and New Guinea.

Diagnosis

This genus is closely related to Stenipo. The crown is visible dorsally as a broad border, slightly wider agaisnt the eyes than in the middle. Tegmina narrow, the appendix big. Hind tibia with one spur and a few small spines. Male genitalia with narrow subgenital plates, short parameres adn the aedeagus without apical spines (Evans 1934).
