Introduction

This very small species is only known from Charters Towers in the Einasleigh uplands of North Queensland. Six specimens matching the type data are present in the J.W. Evans collection and may be considered as additional paratypes. All known specimens were collected from Melaleuca (Myrtaceae).

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: gregarious, myrmecophilous, phloem feeder (associated flora: Melaleuca sp. [MYRTACEAE]).

 

Diagnosis

General coloration pale brown or pale pinkish brown. Head, pronotum and scutellum pale mottled brown. Tegmen either concolorous with the head and thorax, or pale brown with a bold white, followed by a brown, marking against the costal margin and extending as far as vein Cu1. Male genitalia with a transverse band on the subgenital plates and apically club shaped parameres. Length ♂ 4.3 mm, ♀ 4.4 mm. (Evans 1969).
