Introduction

This genus is primarily distributed in New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and New Caledonia. Two species have been recorded in far North Queensland. The shape of the head, with the vertex as long as the pronotum and separated from the face by a carinate margin, distinguishes species of this genus from other Australian spittlebugs.

Diagnosis

More or less dorsoventrally compressed. Head narrower than pronotum. Vertex as long as or longer than pronotum. Tegmina slender to robust, pubescent, veins inconspicuous, not reticulate. Fore legs distinctly longer than hind legs. Hind tibia with one large and one small spurs. Aedeagus shaft tubular, straight, unarmed. Parameres with apex bi- or tridentate (Hamilton 1980).
