Compiler and date details

May 2012 - Peter Davie, Queensland Museum, Brisbane

Introduction

Drach & Guinot (1983) have argued that this group be given family status within the superfamily Majoidea, a view followed by Ng et al. (2008). More recently, Guinot & Richer de Forges (1997) argued that the closest relatives of the Inachoidinae lie within the Hymenosomatidae, but this has been contested (Guinot 2011).

Diagnosis

Eyes without orbits, unconcealed; eyestalks generally long, non-retractile, or retractile against carapace sides or against acute postocular spine. Male abdomen with telson fused to sixth segment to form pleotelson.
