Genus Hypoaspis Canestrini, 1884
Introduction
The classification of Hypoaspis and related genera is very unstable. Some of the species that are listed here as Hypoaspis will probably be transferred to other genera when they are carefully re-examined. Some of the species that were included in Hypoaspis in previous editions of this list have already been transferred to Gaeolaelaps.
In addition to the named species listed here, unidentified species of Hypoaspis have been reported from Australia many times, including Rayment (1954), Domrow & Smith (1956), Roth & Willis (1960), Lowry (1980), Heatwole et al. (1981), Walter (1995), Longstaff et al. (1999) and Seeman & Nahrung (2002).
