Introduction

This species has two subspecies which were derived from Fennah (1975) placing Delphacodes lacteipennis Muir as a second subspecies to the nominal subspecies colorata which is restricted to Sri Lanka. Only H. colorata lacteipennis is known from Australia.

Diagnosis

"Tantum D. albicolli sed color magis nigrescens, antennis nigris, pedibus nigropiceo annulatis, tarsis posticis digitatis, capite vertice albo- 4 carinatis, carininulis mediis antice triangulariter conjunctis; thorace transverso, subopaco, nigro, postice lato arcuato, medio subinflexo, carinulis vix distinctis, lateraliter roseo; hoc limbo antico albissimo, medio leviter sinuato; scutello trianguilari, nigro-piceo; hemelytris hyalinis, nervis antice testaceis, postice infuscatis, costa laterali nigra, abdomine nigro, segmento antico supra rubro, medio infuscato, penultimis approximatis sordido-pallidis. Long 3/4 l. lat. cap. 1/4 l." (Motschulsky 1863).
