Subfamily Heteromysinae Norman, 1892
Introduction
The Heteromysinae includes nine genera and about 102 species (Price et al. 2001). Two genera and 23 species, mainly in the genus Heteromysis, are known from Australian waters. Müller (1993) and Price et al. (2001) catalogued the family.
Diagnosis
Antenna 2 scale outer margin smooth, setose. 3rd thoracopod forming a gnathopod. 3rd–8th thoracopod endopod with fused carpus and propodus (tarsus), carpopropodus divided into several subsegments. Marsupium composed of two pairs of oostegites (in Heteromysis the lamellae form a two-compartmented brood pouch). (Generated from Meland 2002)
