Records of the South Australian Museum (Adelaide) 5(1): 49-62 [53] (restricted the type locality to Kuranda, QLD). - Hesperilla monotherma Lower, 1908 [there is doubt about the status of the names monotherm and monotherma; Lower used monotherm in 1907 but emended it to monotherma in 1908; the ICZN (Art. 33(b)(i) allows for an author to correct a name in a corrigendum; Lower's correction was valid in that it is clearly stated and both names are mentioned; it may be, however, that monotherm is an acceptable masculine form of monotherma in which case the name may change with the gender of the generic name; in this case, if the original form of the species name is used irrespective of the gender of the generic name, then monotherm would be used. Braby (2010) pointed out that Lower (1908, p. 312) actually corrected the original spelling to monotherma “The name is misprinted monotherm.”, and placed it in the genus Hesperilla Hewitson, 1868. The gender of both Telesto Boisduval, 1832, and Hesperilla is feminine, but because monotherm is a noun in apposition the species group name does not need to change. However, since monotherm is an incorrect original spelling that, prior to publication of the Checklist (Atkins & Edwards 1996) has had no usage, Lower’s subsequent correction to monotherma should be maintained].
