Ecological Descriptors

Larvae are oligophagous on Solanaceae (e.g. Nicotiana tabacum, Lycopersicon esculentum, Capsicum annuum and Physalis), but have also been recorded in Australia as feeding on Carthamus tinctorius (Asteraceae), Gossypium hirsutum (Malvaceae), Portulaca (Portulacaceae) and Antirrhinum majus (Scrophulariaceae). While not considered a problem in Australia, this species is known as a serious pest of Nicotiana, Capsicum and Physalis in the Oriental Region.
