Introduction

This distinctively marked species is widespread in the Oriental region which is why it has so many synonyms. In Australia it is restricted to the coastal regions of Queensland.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder (associated flora: Eleusine sp. [POACEAE]; Panicum sp. [POACEAE]; Oryza sp. [POACEAE]).

 

Diagnosis

Female. Pale greenish testaceous. Head conical in front, where it forms a very thin edge. Oviduct red. Legs whitish.
Fore wings white, with a slight greenish tinge; veins pale. Hind wings white, vitreous. Length of the body 2 lines; of the wings 4 lines. (Walker 1858).

General coloration pale green with orange markings. Female with four longitudinal orange markings which extend from near the anterior margin of the crown to the hind margin of the pronotum. Length ♂ 5–5.2 mm, ♀ 6–6.2 mm (Evans 1966).
