Introduction

This endemic species is known from six specimens from the type locality "Cairo Station" in Queensland and two in the ANIC from the Ord Victoria Plain in the Northern Territory. The type series was collected by Charles McCubbin, an associate of the Museum of Victoria, who collected in the Cairns, Kuranda and Weipa regions of North Queensland (Ken Walker, pers. comm. vii.2001). This would indicate that Cairo Station is likely to be associated with localities named Cairo Lagoon and Cairo Yards which are in the northen part of the Gulf Plains bioregion of North Queensland.
