Lectotype BMNH 710 ♂, North-eastern Australia
Comment: White (1847) originally used the name trispinosus for material from Swan River, Western Australia, and Mauritius, but his name is a nom. nud.; Dana (1852) later validated the name and is therefore its author, but as Dana attributed authorship to White, White's material must be considered type, not that of Dana from Fiji; White's (1847) Swan River locality is an error for a locality from north-eastern Australia.Subsequent designation references:
