Holotype BMNH ♂ (coll.: during the voyage of the 'Beagle', C. Darwin), King George's Sound, Western Australia.

This species was based on a single male specimen from King George's Sound, Western Austarlia, collected by Charles Darwin on the voyage of the Beagle

Ecological Descriptors
All stages: phloem feeder.
Diagnosis
This species differs from H. euronotianus in its relatively shorter vertex, and from naias in its relatively longer vertex. From iuncicola it differs in the subparallel lateral margins of the frons (these being distinctly arcuate in H. iuncicola and in the union of the submedian carinae being more remote from the apex of the head. (Fennah 1965, who also provided figures of the head, tegmen and male genitalia)
