Introduction

Griffithsina brisbanica is distinguished from Terrycarlessia bullacea by having stronger radial ribs and weaker spiral striae on the teleoconch. It differs from G. subglobosa by having a larger more glossy shell with narrower umbilicus. Although sculpturally similar to other Griffithsina species., this species is included here with some misgivings (Stanisic et al. 2010).

Diagnosis

Shell medium to large, glossy yellow with darker streaks, globose with relatively deep whorls; protoconch smooth with weak radial ridges, teleoconch sculpture of strong radial ribs on upper whorl surface, more prominent at the suture, and weak spiral striae; umbilicus narrow, V-shaped; diameter 19.5mm.
