Griffithsina is distinguished from Scagacola by the combination of stronger radial ridges on the teleoconch and the strong curvature of the radial ribs at the teleoconch/protoconch boundary.

Diagnosis
Shell medium-sized, subglobose to subdiscoidal with a low-domed spire, last whorl flared; protoconch smooth with weak radial ridges, strongly curved at the protoconch/teleoconch boundary, upper adult whorl surface usually with bold radial ribs and few to many, scattered discontinuous spiral striae, underside of whorls smooth or with weak spirals; lip simple; umbilicus wide to narrow, V-shaped. Shell colour yellow to deep reddish-brown, sometimes with darker streaks.
