Diagnosis

Females with brood pouch. Hinge inverse-lophodont, with posterior cardinal tooth on left valve mostly larger than anterior one. Ventral side of carapace in most species set with ridges. Selvage in both valves inwardly displaced over short distance along anterior, ventral and posterior margins. Calcified inner lamella narrow. Antennula with penultimate segment divided or not, and set with 7 claw-like setae. Third thoracopod longest and most elongate walking limb. Posterior part of female abdomen with one or two caudal complexes each consisting of 2 setae and 3 setose lobes, and dorsally with plump caudal seta and furcal organ. Hemipenis with large, articulating distal lobe, without lateral seta.
