Species Giuris margaritaceus (Valenciennes, 1837)

Snakehead Gudgeon, Mud Gudgeon, Snake-headed Gudgeon

Use of the species name is tentative. The genus has not been revised and there are probably at least three species in the Indo-Pacific region. We use the oldest available name here. The name Ophieleotris aporos, a junior synonym, has been used widely for this species in Australian literature.
