Introduction

Gastrocopta servilis is an introduced species living locally in urban and plantation areas, ports and areas of disturbed habitat. It is distinguished fron native Gastrocopta spp. by the lustrous brown colour of the shell.

Queensland, Western Australia


Extra Distribution Information

SE QLD and offshore islands to NE QLD; and near Broome and in the Pilbara (single locality in Karatha township) N WA. Yet to be collected in the Northern Territory. Native to the West Indies, but introduced into the Asia-Pacific and now widespread

Introduced from West Indies.

Diagnosis

Shell very small, light brown, elongately pupiform, smooth; aperture subquadrate with four to five barriers: a prominent parieto-angular, a horizontal columellar and upper and lower palatal lamellae, occasionally with a weak basal denticle; height up to 2.6 mm.
