The armoured scales (Diaspididae). London : CAB International Institute of Entomology 290 pp. suggested that Heliococcus malvastrus McDaniel, synonymized with F. virgata by McKenzie, H.L. 1967. Mealybugs of California with taxonomy, biology, and control of North American species (Homoptera: Cooccoidea: Pseudococcidae). Berkeley : Univ. Calif. Press 526 pp., may prove to be F. consobrina. Ben-Dov, Y. 1991. On some described and a new species of Middle-Eastern mealybugs (Homoptera: Coccoidea: Pseudococcidae). Israel Journal of Entomology 24: 5–15 indicated that this species was previously misindentified in Israel as F. virgata.
