Family FEDRIZZIIDAE Trägårdh, 1937
- Fedrizziidae Trägårdh, I. 1937. Zur Systematik der Mesostigmata. Arkiv för Zoologi 29B(11): 1-8.
Introduction
The family Fedrizziidae was comprehensively revised by Seeman (2007), who also reviewed previous studies of the family. They are large heavily sclerotised mites whose adults are usually found phoretically attached to passalid beetles in Australia and southeast Asia. The immature stages are found in rotting logs where passalids also occur (Seeman 2000). They appear to be scavengers and nematode feeders. The family includes three genera and 32 species. All three genera and 26 species occur in Australia.
