Diagnosis

Carapace xanthoid in shape, not particularly broadened; dorsal surface convex, regions strongly marked. Anterolateral margin convex, distinctly separated from concave posterolateral margin; anterolateral margin not continuous with exorbital angle but more or less obviously continuing below orbit across subhepatic region towards buccal frame. Front projecting, bilobed. Antennules fold transversely. Subhepatic cavity may be present, sometimes continuing dorsally to form obvious hole in anterolateral margin. Sternum often grooved longitudinally, sometimes with cavities. Chelipeds subequal; carpus, palm and fingers coaptated against carapace. Walking legs similarly folded into strongly concave posterolateral margins of carapace.
