Introduction

This large and elegantly coloured leafhopper is found in the SE Queensland and NE New South Wales coastal regions. It is presumably named after Dr Lin Gressitt, of the Bishop Museum, who collected the holotype specimen.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Golden brown. Face with a black band posteriorly, dark brown in centre. Pronotum and scutellum golden brown. Length ♂ 7–8 mm, ♀ 9 mm, While the male genitalia of this species resemble those of the type species in general features, they differ from them in having the pygophore dorsally emarginate and the VIIth sternite of the female differently shaped (Evans 1981).
