Introduction

This species is not common in collections and has been found along the southeastern parts of mainland Australia. A single record of the species from the wet tropics of North Queensland needs to be confirmed.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: gregarious, myrmecophilous, phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Face of head black, mottled with brown; anteclypeus dark brown, lora pale brown, maxillary plates brindled. Pronotum brown mottled with pale brown. Scutellum concolorous with pronotum but a darker shade. Tegmen dark brown with circular pale markings and with two irregular pale white, or hyaline, fasciae. The anterior fascia may be less distinct than the posterior one. Vein 1A apically white. Hind tibia with three large and one small spur on one margin and two on another. Length ♂ 4.2, ♀ 6 mm (Evans 1966).
