Genus Eurymelella Evans, 1939

Introduction

This monotypic endemic genus appears to be restricted to the alpine regions of New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania. A series of specimens from Corin Dam, Australian Capital Territory, placed with E. tonnoiri in the J.W. Evans collection differ in colouring and in the subgenital plates of the males. These specimens may represent a second species of the genus. The genus was originally described in the Eurymelini based on its generally shiny black coloration with white markings but Evans (1966) transferred it to the Ipoini based on the absence of styles on the subgenital plates.
