Species Eurymela fenestrata Le Peletier & Serville, 1825

Compiler and date details

5 August 2011 - Murray J. Fletcher

Introduction

This common and widespread species shows considerable variation in the extent of the red/orange colouring with some overlap with the colouring found on another largish common species, E. distincta Signoret. An intensive study using molecular data is needed to confirm the number of valid species of Eurymela. Adults and nymphs are a common sight on eucalypt trees crowded together with their attendant ants.
