Type species:
Euryaulax callitettigoides Kirkaldy, 1906 by monotypy.
Introduction
Evans (1966) failed to recognise Lallemand's (1949) synonymy of Eoscarta as defined by Distant (1908) with Euryaulax and listed the species in Eoscarta. Liang (1996) redefined Eoscarta in Asia and excluded the Australian species from the genus. Liang & Fletcher (2002) reverted to Lallemand's recognition of Euryaulax for the Australian species and formally excluded Eoscarta Breddin from the Australian fauna. The genus was subsequently revised by Liang et al. (2012) who recognised 12 species, five of which are endemic to northern Australia, with the type species found across the top end but shared with Papua New Guinea. The other six species are endemic to Papua New Guinea.

Diagnosis
Vertex declivous, flat, longitudinally sulcate exterior to the ocelli, the sulci being parallel and the space between being about equal to that between a sulcus and the nearest eye; the middle lobe is divided by a transverse sulcus into two parts, the anterior being about half the length of the posterior (it is possible that this middle lobe of the vertex is really a dorsal part of the frons). The vertex is also narrowly, transversely impressed close to the posterior margin. The entire anterior (dorsal) margin of the head is strongly, acutely, carinate. The frons is pitted at its base and is strongly swollen, transversely striate, somewhat deeply and widely longitudinally impressed for at least two thirds of its length, the sides of the impression forming slight but noticeable keels. Pronotum with two submedian lachriform impressions near the anterior margin; posterior lobe obsolescently sulcate longitudinally. Scutellum also medially impressed. The characters of venation, etc, are much those of Tomaspis Am. Serv. Legs normal. Antennae reaching laterally to about the interolateral margins of the eyes (Kirkaldy 1906).
