Genus Euronotobrachys Kirkaldy, 1906

Compiler and date details

9 November 2010 - Murray J. Fletcher

Introduction

Five species are known in this genus, all found in Queensland with one also found in the Northern Territory and two also recorded from Western Australia. Kirkaldy (1906: 443) believed that the Australian eurybrachids were all eucalypt-feeders although this is now known not to be correct with species in at least two genera apparently restricted to Acacia. He states "Euronotobrachys arcuata was found always in grass, but it had probably been blown or fallen from Eucalyptus". It is possible that the specimens were collected from the ground because they were feeding on one of the prostrate Acacia species, such as A. sophorae from which eurybrachids are sometimes collected.
