GENERAL

Best description by Maskell, W.M. 1891. Further coccid notes: with descriptions of new species from New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji. Transactions and Proceedings of the New Zealand Institute 23: 1–36 [dated 1890].

BIOLOGY

Sacs of the adult female scattered all over the plant, generally attached at the base of each leaf (see Froggatt, W.W. 1900. Notes on Australian Coccidae (scale insects). I. Genus Eriococcus. Agricultural Gazette of New South Wales 11: 99–107).

SYSTEMATICS

Slide-mounted adult female with: enlarged setae short, blunt, conical, abundant over dorsal surface (see Maskell, W.M. 1891. Further coccid notes: with descriptions of new species from New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji. Transactions and Proceedings of the New Zealand Institute 23: 1–36 [dated 1890]).

STRUCTURE

Maskell, W.M. 1891. Further coccid notes: with descriptions of new species from New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji. Transactions and Proceedings of the New Zealand Institute 23: 1–36 [dated 1890] indicated that this species had a smooth sac.
