Species Epinettyra setosa Permkam & Hancock, 1995
- Epinettyra setosa Permkam, S. & Hancock, D.L. 1995. Australian Trypetinae (Diptera: Tephritidae). Invertebrate Taxonomy 9: 1047-1209 [1189].
Type data:
Holotype QM T12212 ♂ (9.iv.1961, A.W.S. May, ex lure traps in citrus), QLD: Atherton.
Introduction
When described Epinettyra setosa was tentatively placed within the tribe Trypetinae in the subfamily Trypetinae (Permkam & Hancock, 1995). Han (1999) suggested that the genus Epinettyra appeared closer to the tribe Acanthonevrini in the subfamily Phytalmiinae than to the tribe Trypetinae. Hancock (2011) after a re-examination of characters transferred Epinettyra setosa to the tribe Phascini in the subfamily Phytalmiinae. Epinettyra setosa is the only Australian representative of the otherwise New Guinea tribe, the Phascini.
