Elysia timida Risso, 1818 by original designation. - Actaeon Rang, 1829 [Manuel de l'histoire naturelle des mollusques et de leurs coquilles: 146; Not available from Oken, 1815 (work placed on the Official Index). Rang subsequently used as valid "Actéon, actaeon, Ocken" and listed "Elysia? Risso" as a synonym. Oken had based Actaeon on Laplysia viridis Montagu, which is then the type species of Actaeon Rang, by monotypy].

Introduction
Several putative undescribed species may be present, including Elysia cf. arena of Carlson & Hoff (1977), Elysia cf. furvacauda of Coleman (2008), Elysia cf. maoria of Jensen (1993), Elysia cf. tormentosa of Rudman (2001) and Elysia cf. trisinuata of Willan (2005).
