Generic Combinations

  • Elasmias wakefieldiae (Cox, 1868).

 

Introduction

Elasmias wakefieldiae is widespread across eastern Australia occurring from south coastal New South Wales to mid-east Queensland. The shell and animal are white in colour and much paler in colour than the northern Elasmias terrestris. Very similar to Elasmias terrestris, and they may yet prove to be synonymous.

In coastal and subcoastal rainforest and vene thickets from the Illawarra region, NSW to mid-eastern QLD; also on Lord Howe Island.

Diagnosis

Shell very small, transparent white with golden brown apical whorls, ovately conical; sculpture of fine incised spiral lines; columella broad and truncate, possessing a small lamella; aperture sub-ovate with a parietal lamella; imperforate; height 2.9mm.
