Diagnosis
Body divisible into physa, scapus, scapulus and capitulum; the aboral part, physa, short, ampullaceous, without nemathybomes. Scapus long with batteries of nematocysts (nemathybomes) sunk in the mesogloea. Tentacles at least 12, shorter or longer, the inner shorter than the outer ones. A weak ventral siphonoglyph. 8 perfect mesenteries (macrocnemes) and at least 4 imperfect, very weak ones in the most distal part of the body. Retractors very strong, diffuse to restricted reniform, parietal muscles well developed. Only the 8 perfect mesenteries fertile and with filaments. Cnidom: spirocysts, basitrichs, microbasic b- and p-mastigophores.
