Diagnosis

A unique feature, distinguishing this species not only from the other species of Dissonus, but also from all other caligoids known to the author, is a small structure (fig. 4E), present in the place normally occupied by the sternal furca. This appendage, not more than 30µm long, has been observed in all the specimens examined, both male and female.
