Species Dermanyssus gallinae (de Geer, 1778)

Introduction

Dermanyssus gallinae is the red poultry mite, a very important pest of poultry world-wide. It is the subject of an enormous literature, and only a selection of references is listed here, with emphasis on papers of Australian relevance. The biology and control of this species were reviewed by Mul et al. (2009).
