Comment: Smith et al. (2012) were unable to locate the type specimen of T. gigantipes.

Temperate south eastern Australia from southern Queensland to Tasmania, Norfolk Island, and from several areas of the North Island of New Zealand (Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Coromandel, Bay of Plenty, Hawkes Bay, Wanganui, Wellington).
