Introduction
This endemic genus of three distinctive species is immediately recognised by the projections borne by all species on the front of the head. The genus is distributed mainly in inland or arid parts of the continent. Evans (1969) discusses primitive features which are retained in the genus which may indicate a relictual status.

Diagnosis
The three species now comprised in the genus Cornutipo differ from other eurymelids in the following characteristics: the face of the head is grotesque; the lora are swollen and extensive and their posterior apices lie close to the antennal depressions; the pronotum is laterally wide and the proepimera narrowly produced posteriorly; the male genitalia have unusually small subgenital plates and parameres (Evans 1969).
