Ecological Descriptors

Benthic, epiphytic, marine.

 

Diagnosis

Found in two distinct colour morphs (green and white), reaches a length of 1 cm and appears to have a very limited distribution. Thus far, it has only been found in one area of Rottnest Island living as an epiphyte, Jania sp. (order Cryptonemiales, family Corallinaceae) in the low intertidal region.

 

Notes

Species named in recognition of the type locality (Thomson Bay) and of Robert Thomson, who was one of the first settlers on Rottnest Island and together with his family, earned a living by fishing, collecting salt, and farming between 1831 and 1838.
