Tribe Chrysobothrini Gory & Laporte, 1837
Type genus:
Chrysobothris Eschscholtz, 1829 [by indication].
Introduction
Another fundamental lineage of jewel beetles, this group was original recognized as Chrysobothrides (Buprestides vrais, Group V) by Lacordaire (1857), although having been given tribal status in the Monograph series of F. L. de Laporte and H. Gory (1835-1841). The Chrysobothrini is comprised of two subtribes: Chrysobothrina and Actenodina. These are essentially the same as the Chrysobothres and Actenodae of Théry (1929). The specific relationships within the buprestine lineage is not yet completely understood, but several aspects of adult morphology suggest a closer affinity to certain elements of Anthaxiini and Sphenopterini.
