A genus found from southern Africa through the Oriental and southern Palaearctic regions to Australia where a single highly variable species is widespread.

Diagnosis

Corps oblong. Tête triangulaire, atténuée à son bord antérieur. Vertex subdéprimé; caréné à sa base. Front oblong, subparallèle. La partie inférieure de la tête située entre les yeux et la base du front, en quadrilatère pas plus long que large. Joues latéralement dilatées. Plaques génales subelliptiques. Chaperon en carré long. Rostre court; assez robuste; de deux articles apparents. Yeux grands; transversaux; peu saillants. Ocelles globuleux; distants; placés en avant de la ligne des yeux, vers le bord de la tranche latérale du vertex. Antennes médiocres , avec leur soie assez longue, graduellement épaissie à la base. Prothorax court; transversal. Homélytres allongées; à cinq nervures saillantes; à bord sutural sensiblement sinueux en arrière, où elles se croisent assez fortement. Pieds allongés, les postérieurs surtout. Tibias antérieurs faiblement épineux; les postérieurs beaucoup plus fortement. Tarses de trois articles: les quatre antérieurs à dernier article aussi long que les deux précédents pris ensemble: les postérieurs à premier article aussi long que les deux suivants réunis (Mulsant & Rey 1855).

Head triangular, more or less porrect. specifically variable in this respect; foliaceous. Crown flattish. longer than wide between the eyes, from three to four times as long as pronotum. Lateral margins in front of eyes slightly sinuate, apical fourth subspatulate. Frons oblongoval, twice as long as wide; genae at antennal sockets about three-fourths of the width of the clypeus which is parallel-sided, a little wider than lorae, the latter not quite touching posterior margin of genae. Eyes large, forming part of the curve of the head, not enclosed by lateral margin of crown. Ocelli on the disk of the crown just above anterior margin of the eyes, a little nearer lateral margins than the middle line. Pronotum transverse, about three times as wide as long, slightlv arched anteriorly, very obtuseangularly emarginate posteriorly; lateral margins short. Tegmina coriaceous, abbreviated, reaching little beyond base of abdomen, posteriorly truncate, venation obscure; wings minute, venation obscure, submarginal vein absent. Legs normal (Kirkaldy 1906, of Kosmiopelex).
