Type locality: Northern Maluku, possibly Halmahera (Butler erroneously gave Timor in original description), see Rothschild, L.W. & Jordan, K. 1900. A monograph of the Charaxes and the allied prionopterous genera. Novitates Zoologicae 7(3): 281–524 pls 6–10 [299] (stated that the type was identical to specimens from Halmahera and discussed the BMNH register information).
