   Syntype(s) MNHP 1945–138 ♂ skull, skin not found in MNHP, Malay Peninsula (as presqu'île de Malacca).

Introduced into several parts of Victoria, including the Grampians, Mt Cole in W VIC, into Gippsland in SE coast area and to French 64 km S Melbourne; all still present there in 1972 .
