Introduction
The genus Cerdistus is more than likely absent from Australia, being a dump genus for Australian species in the early part of the twentieth century. Species currently placed here fall into at least three generic groups belonging to both the Apocleini and the Asilini. Two of White's genera, Rhabdotoitamus and Trichoitamus are available but the limits of each is uncertain and the type species of each belong with the Asilini. Two or three species possess characters from both tribes.
Many undescribed species are housed in Australian collections.
