Marine (host(s): Pagurus [PAGURIDAE] Hermit crab).

 

Diagnosis

Contraction in nearly disc-shaped body with a broad base, which is attached to a shell inhabited by a hermit crab (Pagurus). The tentacles are numerous, cylindrical, thin. Cinclides are present, in a series 6 mm above limbus, each cinclide surrounded by bulbous region. Column is brown with white spots, often colour distributed in such a way that the lower part is brown with purple longitudinal cross stripes, the upper part white, or the predominant colour is maroon with irregular patches of white. Young specimens are brown. Differs from Calliactis polypus by colour distribution.
