Introduction

Holloway (2003) compared Bryophilopsis orientalis Hampson, 1912 from Christmas Island with male specimens of Bryophilopsis from Queensland held in the BMNH and noted that male genitalia of thw two are very similar. He suggested that B. leucopolia (Turner,1926) may be a junior synonym of B. orientalis Hampson, 1912, but did not make a formal synonomy. Pending further investigation B. leucopolia (Turner, 1926) is retained as a separate species, and B. orientalis Hampson, 1912 is added tentatively to the Australian fauna.
