Species Bothriocroton tachyglossi (Roberts, 1953)

Introduction

Klompen et al. (2002) relegated Aponomma into synonymy with Amblyomma but did not specifically refer to Aponomma tachyglossi Roberts, 1953. Andrews et al. (2006) pointed out that Aponomma tachyglossi should now be placed in the genus Bothriocroton, although they did not formally adopt that arrangement themselves.

Bothriocroton tachyglossi has sometimes been considered as a synonym of B. hydrosauri (by Camicas et al. (1998) for example). It is here considered to be a valid species following Andrews et al. (2006).
